signed and numbered gilt full plate movement with engraved Ordnance arrow, cut and compensated bimetallic balance and jewelled centre, white enamel Roman dial with outer track to a fifth of a second, in a polished silver case hallmarked for London 1914, casemakers mark for Rotherham and Sons; contained in the original mahogany deck box with signed ivory plaque and glazed aperture, set to the inside with a card "Issued from the Royal Observatory, Greenwich" the watch 51mm. diameter, the box 92mm wide

This watch is sold with a form entitled 'Naval Message' with handwritten pencil notes indicating that on 28th January 1937 the watch was tested and found to be 30 and 3/5 seconds fast.
