pine bread and butter construction, varnished to the waterline and painted black above with varnished wales, raised trail boards and quarter decoration, with a carved figurehead. Inscribed decks with deck houses, skylights, companionways and ship's boats, stub masts. On a polished backboard with brass suspension loops. 136 x 30 x 13cm. (53.5 x 12 x 5in.)

The Iron Barque ARABELLA was built by Bartram, Haswell & Co., Sunderland in 1876. Originally owned by Thomas Hick, of Scarborough, this half model was on board the ship and retained by the Hick family when the ship was sold in 1895. She was wrecked after grounding on Cosmolando Island November 4th. 1912.
