Marisa Merz is the sole woman in the highly influential 'Arte Povera' movement which developed in Italy in the mid-Twentieth Century. Her work is currently the subject of a major travelling retrospective at the Met Breur, New York, the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, the Serralves, Porto and the Museum der Moderne Salzburg. Marisa Merz was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Acheivement at the Venice Biennale in 2013.
