Paul Carella is the Director of Bonhams Arms & Armor Department, based in San Francisco. His responsibilities include procurement of important consignments in the Americas in the fields of antique arms, armor and modern sporting guns. He also manages the day-to-day affairs of the department.
Prior to his position at Bonhams, Carella was the Specialist-In-Charge at an auction house in New York. Before that, he worked in the Arms and Armor Department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Carella was educated at Manhattan College in Riverdale, N.Y., where he earned a degree in Business Administration.
Carella is a member of the Armor and Arms Club of New York. He has lectured on collecting antique arms and armor at prestigious institutions, such as the Flagler Museum of Palm Beach, Fla., and he has been a consultant for individual private collectors and dealers internationally since 1990.
Carella has appeared as an appraiser of arms and armor on PBS' "Antiques Roadshow ®."
