Chris Brickley has been the Head of Pictures, Bonhams Scotland since 1999. He joined the company in 1996 having completed a PhD thesis on the Glasgow School, a subject on which he is an acknowledged specialist.

In 2011 he master-minded the £3m sale of Colourist and other Scottish paintings in Edinburgh including 'Flowers and Fruit' by Samuel John Peploe which sold for £512,800 and 'The Artist's Drawing Room' by Francis Campbell Boileau Cadell which made £400,800.

Under his leadership the Bonhams picture department has become the number one seller of Scottish art in the world and has established several world record prices for Scottish paintings among them the £120,000 paid for Sea Gulls and Sapphire Seas by Robert Gemmell Hutchison.
