Andrew Spicer undertook the inaugural professional Fine Arts course held by Southampton College on behalf of the Incorporated Society of Valuers and Auctioneers, now amalgamated with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, graduating in 1984.
He then joined the jewellery department of Phillips Auctioneers in London, before moving to East Anglia and then Chester. After spending several years as a jewellery and silver dealer he rejoined Phillips as they merged with Bonhams in 2000, heading up the department.
The department has grown from strength to strength, selling over £1 million of silverware in Chester during 2012 and consigning close to £1 million of jewellery, watches and silver to other auction centres in the same period.
A recent career highlight was the successful sale of the Milntown Trust collection of silverware including the largest collection of early 17th century miniature silver to appear on the market for 40 years, which realised close to £200,000.
Andrew has taken his love of classic cars and motorbikes to a new level in 2013 following on the successful 100% sale of 35 motorbikes and cars from a local estate for over £250,000 and will actively be searching out interesting historic cars, bikes and vehicles for inclusion in forthcoming auctions.
