Philip Scott graduated from Edinburgh University with a Masters Degree with honours in History. He joined the musical instrument department of Philips in 1985 and in 1991 was appointed Head of Department, a post he maintained at Bonhams following the merger in 2001.
Highlights of his career thus far include the sales of several instruments by Antonio Stradivari, and the significant growth of his department's turnover to almost £3 million annually. Philip has appeared frequently on BBC television and radio, and has contributed to numerous publications. He was admitted by invitation to the Worshipful Company of Musicians and became a Freeman of the City of London in 1999.
