Peter Scott is a Specialist in the Furniture and Decorative Arts Department at Bonhams in San Francisco. He is responsible for sourcing and bringing to market the extensive range of property that is covered by his department. Scott conducts estate, fair market and insurance valuations and attends all valuation clinics.
Scott brings to his position nearly four decades of experience in the world of antiques, with an expertise that spans three centuries, encompassing the full range of Decorative Arts, from ceramic and glass to bronze and objects d'art.
Scott has held various positions at Bonhams since he first started working at the company in 1989. From 1992 to 1995, he was Co-Director of the company's West Gallery. In 2001, he began overseeing all aspects of the company's Decorative Arts Department. This followed two years he spent working at an online auction company, where he was a part of a team that created one of the first online valuation services.
Prior to joining Bonhams, from 1975 to 1989, Scott owned and operated his own antiques store in Dublin, Ireland. In 1985, he transferred the business to San Anselmo, Calif. Before that, Scott worked with a family-run auction house, where he expanded and refined valuation skills that he gained in his prior position as Assistant to a leading Dublin antiques dealer
Scott's time at Bonhams includes two seasons on HGTV's "Value It!" and an appearance on CBS' "Early Show."
