Tim McNab is the Director of Period Art & Design auctions, Manager of the Furniture and Decorative Arts Department, and an Auctioneer at Bonhams in Los Angeles. His responsibilities include sourcing property and managing day-to-day business of the departments. He works closely with the West Coast Furniture and Decorative Arts Department at Bonhams to promote, support and develop existing and emerging auction categories, including Musical Instruments.
During his time at the company, he has worked on notable sales, such as the Lilliane and Antonio Mariani Collection, the Ed Hardy Collection, the JZ Knight Collection, the Estate of Elizabeth Colyear Vincent, the Estate of Maria Helen Smith and the Collection of Sir Daniel Donohue.
McNab joined Bonhams in 2005. Before taking his current positions, he served until 2008 as a Client Relations Representative, providing auction operation support. He was then promoted to Manager of the Furniture and Decorative Arts Departments for both Los Angeles and San Francisco.
McNab was educated at the University of California at Los Angeles, where, in 2003 he earned his BA in French, with a focus on European History and Art. His personal interests include music, 17th through 19th century furniture and decorative arts, heraldry, genealogy, architecture and archery. Born to a family of musicians, McNab's early interest in music included piano, cello and voice studies. Highlights of his career include performing with the Los Angeles Opera during the 1984 Olympic Arts Festival and also in select performances at the Hollywood Bowl.
