Laura King Pfaff has served as Chairman of Bonhams since she joined the company in June 2001. King Pfaff oversees the company's Trusts & Estates Department, Museum & Institutional Services and Marketing Department, and serves on Bonhams US Board of Directors.

Under King Pfaff's leadership, Bonhams has sold impressive property from the Estates of Steve McQueen, Truman Capote, Tyrone Power, Ginger Rogers, Clara Bow, Mae West, Esther Lederer (Ann Landers), James Stewart, Sarah Vaughn and Raymond Burr. Bonhams has also offered author Ayn Rand's personal library of original manuscript material; collections consigned by producer and writer, Steve Martin, and actress Daryl Hannah; and important motorcars and furniture of Edwin Jameson.

Prior to joining Bonhams, King Pfaff was the Senior Vice President and regional Director of an international auction house in San Francisco. There, she acted as principal liaison to trust officers and estate planning professionals in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest, and was responsible for new business development and marketing.

From 1990 to 1996, King Pfaff owned and operated Laura King & Company, a regional corporate media relations and special events company. This followed her experience, from 1987 to 1989, as account supervisor at The Pacific Group, a San Francisco public relations firm.

She has been on the Board of Governors of the San Francisco Symphony since 1993 and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the California Pacific Medical Centre Foundation and the Santa Catalina School. She is an associate Director of the National Brain Tumour Foundation, she served on the board of the Cancer Prevention Institute of California for 12 years, and she completed a nine-year board commitment to the Fort Mason Centre Foundation.

King Pfaff holds a BA with honours in Marketing at the University of Southern California; following attendance at the Santa Catalina School in Monterey, Calif., and the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Menlo Park, Calif.
