Jonathan Horwich has been Global Director of Pictures Sales at Bonhams since 2009. He has over 30 years experience in the auction world, much of it gained at an international auction house where he was International Director of 19th Century European Paintings and the Director of International, British and Irish Art.
In this latter capacity Jonathan ran the company's Scottish picture auctions in Glasgow from 1999 and negotiated and organised the sale of a major single owner collection of Scottish Colourists which attracted buyers from around the world.
Jonathan built a market for the works of Sir Alfred Munnings and L.S. Lowry and is acknowledged as a world authority on these artists. He was responsible for the sale of the Bunting Collection of pictures by Munnings and the Forbes Family Collection of Victorian pictures which sold in 2003 for £17.3 million.
As Global Director of Picture Sales, Jonathan directs pictures teams in Europe, the USA, the Middle and Far East.
