Leigh Gotch joined Bonhams in 1994 as a member of the Toy Department, having spent the previous five years in the trade dealing in dolls, teddy bears and Victorian toys at London's famous Portobello Road market and attending shows world-wide.

In 1997 Leigh was appointed Head of Toys and Dolls, and in the following year was joined in the department by his wife Rachel as cataloguer and valuer for dolls and teddy bears. Since he joined, sale highlights have included the world-renowned Vivien Greene Dolls House Collection, which realised over £400,000; the important Doll and Dolls House collection of the late Elsie Potter, which achieved £100,000; a toy Marklin tinplate Battleship, circa 1904, which sold for £20,000 and a late 1920s Steiff Teddy Bear, £25,000. Leigh and Rachel spend many weekends attending Toy, Doll and Teddy Bear shows and representing Bonhams at valuation days across the UK and Europe.
