Handle with white gloves: single owner collection of Judith Leiber® handbags and accessories 100% sold at Bonhams

Los Angeles – Bonhams is honored to announce a stellar result for the December 12, 2011 auction of The Robert Maier Collection of Judith Leiber® handbags and accessories. The magnificent single owner sale brought more than $309,000 and featured 266 lots.

Items of note from the 100% sold auction, also known as a 'white glove sale,' included highly sought after 3-dimensional and traditional handbags, as well as a strong selection of pill boxes, lipstick cases, compacts, notebooks, business card cases and candy holders. Fierce bidding was observed throughout the auction from far and varied regions for pieces in the shapes of dogs, cats, bears, sea life, floral, vegetables, eggs and fairy tale-inspired items. Many of the lots on offer far surpassed their pre-sale estimates.

Highlights from The Robert Maier Collection of Judith Leiber® handbags and accessories included a Limited Edition multi-colored crystal Ganesh minaudiere (est. $2,000-3,000, sold for $7,500), a Collector's Edition dalmatian minaudiere together with a red crystal heart pillbox (est. $1,600-2,500, sold for $5,625), a Collector's Edition gold starfish minaudiere (est. $2,000-3,000, sold for $5,625), a Collector's Edition black and silver crystal "Jinx the Cat" minaudiere together with a black crystal lipstick holder (est. $1,500-2,500, sold for $5,250), a Collector's Edition silver crystal nightingale birdcage minaudiere together with one pink and one blue crystal bird pillbox (est. $3,000-4,000, sold for $5,125), a Limited Edition pink crystal floral bud "Windflower" minaudiere (est. $1,500-2,500, sold for $4,750), a Collector's Edition black, silver and pink crystal nightingale birdcage minaudiere with two birdcage pillboxes (est. $3,000-4,000, sold for $4,750), a red crystal and gold colored metal detailing tulip minaudiere together with a crystal "lipstick" shaped lipstick container and a crystal flower compact (est. $1,600-2,500, sold for $4,375), a Collector's Edition crystal 'Da Yun' tiger minaudiere (est. $1,500-2,500, sold for $4,250) and a Limited Edition crystal black panther minaudiere (est. $1,500-2,500, sold $3,875) as well as a strong selection of cats, bears, sea life, floral, vegetable, egg-shaped, fairy tale-inspired and traditional handbags. Many of the minaudieres, pill boxes and compacts offered included the original pouch and outer box.
