An unopened case of Romanée Conti 1988 from a private UK collector, estimated at HK$1.1m to 1.3m, leads Bonhams next Fine and Rare Wine, Cognac and Single Malt Whisky Sale in Hong Kong on 18 November. With more than 800 lots – 420 of Fine Wine and Cognac and 380 of rare Whisky, Japanese Sake and Chinese Spirits – the sale has an estimate of at least HK$15 million.

In addition to the case of Romanée Conti 1988, the sale a case of assorted Romanée Conti vintages from 2001 estimated at HK$170,000-220,000. There are also six bottles of Château Pétrus 2000 at HK$140,000-180,000 together with an array of fine and sought-after wines from Bordeaux, Rhone, Italian and Germany.
The leading Cognac is a First Edition Remy Martin Louis XIII Black Pearl (750ml) estimated at HK$130,000-180,000. In a leather presentation case, with velvet cloth, this is bottle number 32 of 786.
A Lalique Decanter of The Macallan 65 year old estimated at HK$280,000-340,000 is the main lot in the Scotch Whisky section. In all, there are more than 70 bottles of The Macallan in the sale, including a bottle of The Macallan 1951 (one of 632 bottles) estimated at HK$130,000-180,000.
The Japanese Whisky category of the sale boasts a bottle of Yamazaki 50 year at an estimate of HK$320,000-360,000 and more than 50 bottles of Hanyu Ichiro's Malt Card series offered individually or in combination. Hanyu's Malt 8 of Spades, Hearts, Clubs and Diamonds (4 bottles), for example, is estimated at HK$110,000-140,000 and a single lot of 5 bottles of Hanyu Ace of Diamond straight flush is estimated at HK$150,000-200,000. A rare bottle of Karuizawa Sakura of which only 45 bottles were made is estimated at HK$100,000-140,000.
Finally, a Bourbon bottled during Prohibition in the USA – the period from 1920-1933 when alcohol was not allowed to be produced, imported, transported or sold – is one of the highlights of the sale. The very scarce bottle of Old Mork 18 Summers Old Whiskey has an estimate of HK$22,000- 26,000.
