The motorsport collection of the late Peter Warr is to be auctioned as part of Bonhams Beaulieu Motor Museum sale on September 6th.
Manager of the Lotus Formula One team during its golden years, from 1982 Warr built the brand, notably persuading young Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna over to the British team for the 1985 season.
In 1958 Warr began his early career with Lotus, starting as a salesman for Lotus Cars, and then moving across to Lotus Components where he quickly became managing director. Concurrently he successfully pursued a racing career with team Lotus, famously winning the first ever Japanese Grand Prix in 1963, driving his employer's Lotus 23 sports cars.
From this incredible win Bonhams sale is to auction various items of automobilia. These include Warr's driver's armband, rosette, and certificates relating to the 1963 A1 Class win from the Suzuki Circuit, entered at an estimated £400 - 500.
