Experienced collector joins the team as Denmark representative, responsible for promoting the department in Europe.
The Bonhams Motor Car department is pleased to announce the appointment of Henning Thomsen, who joins the team as its representative in Denmark.
Henning has more than 50 years' experience within the collectors' motor car market, having bought his first vehicle – a Fiat 500 Topolino – at the tender age of 17.
His passion for the hobby can be seen in the variety of cars he has owned over the years, which include a Ferrari 250GTE and 246GTS, a Delage D6/70, and examples of models from a number of historic British manufacturers including Jaguar, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Morgan, Austin-Healey, MG and Triumph.
His current collection includes two Austin-Healeys, an MGA coupé, two Jaguars, a Morgan Plus 8 and a Lagonda M35R.
In his early career Henning was educated as a radar technician in El Paso, Texas, while serving with the Danish Air Force. Most recently he has worked as a consultant specialist developing and selling compact waste water treatment plants for rural housing.
In his spare time he is a steward and scrutineer with the Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens (FIVA) and a board member with the largest vintage car club in Denmark – the Dansk Veteranbil Klub – and Motorhistorisk Samraad, the Danish Federation that covers such clubs. He has participated in historic motoring events including the Mille Miglia and the Colorado Grand.
James Knight, Bonhams Group Head of Motoring, said: "Having previously dealt with Henning as a client, I was very impressed with his easy but professional demeanor, enthusiasm for the hobby as well as his in-depth knowledge of both his regional market and motor cars. These are all attributes required to be an effective representative and we all look forward to working with Henning."
Henning said: "I am absolutely delighted to be joining the team at Bonhams. Classic cars have been my hobby and my passion all my adult life, and I am looking forward to making them my profession too.
"I still have fond memories of my first visit to a Bonhams auction. The company offers a professional and welcoming service, and I had no reservations about entrusting two of my most treasured cars to James Knight and his team when it came time to sell them."
Henning can be contacted on +45 4051 4799 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
