Los Angeles - Following on the heels of the inaugural Designer Fashions, Accessories and Jewelry: What Women Want...At Auction sale in the US, Bonhams is pleased to announce the October 21 Period Art & Design auction featuring its second offering in this category. Leading the fall auction is a collection of sophisticated designer fashions highlighted by a group of a stylish handbags and chic accessories.
Luxury handbags and luggage of note include a six piece beige linen travel suite by Ralph Lauren (est. $1,000-1,500), a petit black Hermès 'Kelly' handbag, date code for 1973 (est. $800 - 1,200) and a group of three crocodile suitcases, second quarter 20th century (est. $700 – 900), among others.
Fashion highlights include a bead-trimmed dress by Laurence et Cie, circa 1960s (est. $250-350); a sequined navy sailor blouse by Jean Paul Gaultier (est. $200-300); a striped multi-color sweater and pleated skirt by Sonia Rykiel (est. $200-300); a purple caftan by Yves St. Laurent (est. $200 – 300) and a whimsical pink hat designed by John Boyd Milliners. The well known milliner has created hats for Anne, The Princess Royal and the late Diana, Princess of Wales (est. $100 - 200).
