Goodwood press day
Wednesday 14 March 2012

Bonhams Motoring Department held a strong presence at the Goodwood Press Day in Mid-March with cars on show from the Daniels Collection, Glasius Collection, the 1912 'Corgi' Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost and the ex-Ettore Bugatti Type 57C. CEO Malcolm Barber was tasked with driving the 1929 Bentley 4½-Litre Supercharged Racing Single-Seater, as pictured above, up the hill which he did with some vigour. Two further cars from the Daniels Collection drove the famous route as well as the ex-Ettore Bugatti Type 57C which will also feature at the Festival of Speed Sale.

Classic & Sportscar Magazine road test
Tuesday 27 March 2012

"Jamie, do you fancy the idea of your Healey being used for a road test for Classic & Sportscar?", said motoring journalist Paul
Hardiman. "What am I up against?", asked a nervous Jamie. "Triumph TR2 and Morgan Plus 4". "OK, sounds fun, where do you want me?"
We met up near the military's Bulford Camp on the edge of Salisbury Plain. Nice long straight roads for car-to-car shots and usually quiet I was assured – the rationale being we don't have a very big army and what we have got is deployed elsewhere. So it came as a surprise to see an armoured vehicle - for the enthusiasts actually
a GKN Sankey FV432 Infantry Troop Carrier - come haring around the corner, very nearly creating three flat-pack classics.....
Look out for it in the May issue.

Race Meeting of the season, the 'Spring Start' which known as the traditional season opener for Vintage and Historic Racing in the UK.

The Donington Historic Festival
Sunday 6th May 2012

Sir Stirling Moss will take to the track in the actual Jaguar C-type he drove to victory in the 1952 Reims Grand Prix for sports
cars, exactly 60 years ago. But, impressive as it was, his 1952 victory was more than a mere race win. This was the first-ever race victory in a disc-braked car, a landmark event which cemented the Jaguar marque's reputation for innovative engineering and helped to make disc brakes the universal technology they are today. When not behind the wheel of the C-type or signing autographs at Donington in May, Sir Stirling is likely to pay particular attention to one of the races on Sunday morning: the Stirling Moss Trophy for pre-1961 sports
cars and sports-racers, launched two years ago by historic race organiser Motor Racing Legends with the full support and involvement
of the great man himself. The race series made headlines when Sir Stirling generously presented the winners with a priceless piece of silverware: the actual trophy he won for his first-ever Formula 1 Grand Prix win – the 1955 British Grand Prix at Aintree. Other races at the Donington Historic Festival include Group C sports cars, Historic Touring Cars, sports cars and Formula 2; not to mention the hugely popular E-type Challenge and the 'Mad Jack' for pre-War cars.

Plus there is plenty of off-track action as well, such as the huge number of car clubs turning out to display their cherished classics
for the delight of spectators, and enjoying some parade laps on the Donington circuit. All this at arguably Britain's best spectator circuit.

Day tickets for the Donington Historic Festival cost £18 in advance (£25 on the gate), while weekend tickets cost £30 in advance (£40 on
the gate). Children aged under 16 are admitted free. Entry tickets and camping tickets can be bought via www.doningtonhistoric.comand through the 24-hour ticket hotline 0844 873 7355.

Tour Britannia
7-9 June 2012

As Summer approaches, many classic car owners will now be thinking about events to support this summer. If three days of motoring across some of Britain's finest countryside with visits to great motorsport venues in the company of like-minded enthusiasts ticks the boxes, then Tour Britannia is the perfect event for you.

Running from 7-9 June from a base in Harrogate, Tour Britannia is the perfect way to enjoy a classic car and there is an event to suit
all tastes. It comes thoroughly recommended by the team here at Bonhams. This is one of our favourites and to endorse our enthusiasm for the friendly nature of the event, we are entering two
cars this year.

Take a look at the website www.tourbritannia.com for more details.
