19th Century Paintings Department
Victorian and 19th Century European Paintings, Drawings and Watercolours |
|
|
The 19th Century Paintings department at Bonhams sells a wide variety of paintings, drawings and watercolours by the foremost artists of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The department holds two fine sales and two specialist marine sales annually.
These auctions encompass the full spectrum of Victorian and European painting, from traditional English landscapes and works from the Pre-Raphaelite movement, through to the glory of Edwardian portraiture. Sporting and Orientalist subjects are also well represented in our sales. The catalogue also reflects the major movements in Continental Europe, with works from the Dutch Romantic school and Scandinavian painters, French and German painting and works by the diverse Spanish and Italian masters of the nineteenth century.
Expertise combined with carefully considered advertising produces exceptional results, and we work closely with our colleagues throughout the Bonhams network of offices and salerooms to value, promote and sell these works on a worldwide basis, to achieve the best possible results.
