We currently have an opportunity for a Junior Cataloguer to join the Jewellery & Silver department of our Edinburgh office on a part-time basis (4 days per week), for a period of 6 months maternity cover.
Your duties will include, but not be limited to, answering queries from Bonhams' clients at the department front counter, on home visits, valuation days or sale viewing days; assisting with condition reports and cataloguing items for sale, to strict catalogue production deadlines; and supporting the team on sale days on all aspects of the auction process.
With excellent organisational skills, you will maintain an up-to-date database for buyers and sellers, and liaise with the relevant departments to ensure seamless service for our clients. You will support the promotion of the department, by maintaining close contact with private and trade customers, attending departmental functions when necessary, and assisting with the production of publicity material as required.
This busy and varied role will require a proactive and flexible approach and the ability to prioritise a heavy workload. You should have previous administrative experience, good time management skills and possess excellent communication skills both written and oral. You will be able to demonstrate an interest in jewellery and silver and whilst gemmological qualifications are not essential they are advantageous. In addition you will be computer literate, with knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, Adobe Photoshop and digital photography, and have the ability to work well within an established close-knit team but also on your own initiative.
