Bonhams is seeking a Junior Cataloguer for its Glass and Ceramics Department, based in its New Bond Street saleroom. Working with an established team of specialists, and helping to process the large number of lots sold each year, this role will focus specifically on European Glass and British Glass and Ceramics.
Duties will include, but not be limited to, assisting with research and catalogue preparation, completing client contracts, supporting specialists with valuations, and advising clients on the sale of their property at the reception desk, on the telephone and by post or email. You will assist with cataloguing the specialised sales using the appropriate computer system and organise the catalogue production with the Photographic department and Desktop Publishing. You will cover all aspects of administration, including maintaining control of property in and out of the department, with particular reference to items transferred between New Bond Street and other regional branches. You may be asked to execute telephone bids during the sale and other duties assigned by the Department Director.
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral along with a proactive approach and the ability to prioritise and work well under pressure. You will be computer literate and have a keen eye for detail. A proven keen interest in British and European Glass and British Ceramics is desirable, along with previous researching experience. Educated to degree level is preferred, but not essential.
