A position has become available for a Junior Cataloguer to join our Collectors' department, to assist with the production of all sales, including Entertainment Memorabilia, Scientific Instruments & Mechanical Music, Marine Works of Art and other related auctions.
The successful candidate will be supporting the Specialists in valuing and advising clients on the sale of their property at the reception desk, on the telephone, by post or email. You will also assist with cataloging, keeping an orderly system of property within the department and completing client contracts.
As Junior Cataloguer you will be responsible for the day to day management of consignments, researching authenticity and preparing informative footnotes, as well as all pre and post sale administration. You will also liaise with both the Photography and Desktop Publishing departments to organize catalog production for all forthcoming sales. Additionally, you may be required to accompany Specialists on visits to client's homes and to assist with telephone bidding on sale days.
You will be proactive with a flexible approach to your work with the ability to prioritize your workload. The role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, along with a good knowledge of MS Office-particularly Outlook, Word and Excel. Previous Auction House experience is advantageous as is a proven and keen interest in Collectors' or a Bachelor's degree in a related subject.
