We currently have an opportunity for a Head Porter based in our busy Edinburgh saleroom.
This is a key role, which supports all aspects of the auction process and ensures the smooth running of the business before, during and after sale days. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, preparing items for sale, including taking photographs for catalogs and the website; setting up the saleroom on sale days, ensuring all equipment is connected and working; overseeing the transfer of all items arriving and leaving the saleroom, whilst liaising with clients, couriers, shippers, and specialist departments within Bonhams Scotland or the rest of the Bonhams group; plus assisting with the packing and collection of items; and managing security equipment.
This physically demanding role requires a flair for organization, a practical approach, and the ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines. You will need to have outstanding customer service skills, work well in a team, and be a natural problem solver. The role includes portering duties, for which manual handling training will be provided.
