A position has become available within Bonhams for al Representative based in our new Amsterdam office. We are seeking an enthusiastic Representative to source artworks for sale, whilst managing and maintaining the running of the office.
As Representative you will be expected to effectively manage and direct your team. The role will entail traveling as and when required, in order to establish and maintain relationships with collectors, galleries, curators, various other clients and to promote the Bonhams services and sales. Along with your team, you will develop and maintain our client database in the Netherlands, through soliciting private clients within the region to buy or sell art works through Bonhams and build relationships with related companies to support Bonhams sales worldwide. You will work in conjunction with the London office to assist with all aspects of the setting up of exhibitions and/or sales within the region, and liaise with specialist departments in London to arrange client visits in and around Amsterdam and the north of Germany. As part of the promotion of the Bonhams brand you will arrange events in the Netherlands, including lectures, talks, charity auctions and valuation days etc. The role will involve general administration, and ensuring clients receive regular letters, emails, catalogs, invitations and other Bonhams material.
Ideally you will possess excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work accurately and well under pressure. You will have good word processing skills and be computer literate. The role requires excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both written and orally. You will be able to work as part of a close-knit team, as well as independently, with attention to detail, care, and discretion. Previous saleroom experience will be an advantage but is not essential requirement.
