A position has become available for a Trainee to join our busy and high profile Antiquities Department, to provide support to the Specialists producing four sales a year.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to, general office duties including pre and post sale administration; dealing with consignments and control of stock within the department; responding to shipping enquiries and export licence applications; and maintaining up to date computer records. You will provide assistance to the Specialists with research and cataloguing, as well as with sale preparation, such as organising items into lots, saleroom set up and telephone bidding on sale days. With excellent customer service skills, you will deal with client queries via email, telephone and in person.
Ideally you will have an academic background in ancient history or archaeology, and experience of working in an auction house would be advantageous, along with fluency in another European language. The successful candidate will be computer literate (MS word and Excel), be able to prioritise the workload in a busy office and possess good interpersonal and communication skills. You will be a flexible team player with excellent time management and organisational skills.
