Bonhams is currently recruiting for a Trainee Cataloguer in the Asian Art department based at Knightsbridge.
Duties will include, but not be limited to, the cataloging and researching property for sale; maintaining control of property in and out of the department, ensuring safe delivery and storage. You will be assisting with the efficient handling of customer enquiries via telephone, email and post, liaising with experts and other departments to ensure prompt advice and service to our customers. Alongside the Junior Cataloguer, you will assist with all pre and post sale administration and other day to day duties to maintain the smooth running of the department.
You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral and a proactive approach with the ability to prioritize your workload. You must have a sound knowledge of MS Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook and possess strong organizational skills. The ideal candidate will have previous auction house experience and an interest in the languages of China, Japan and the Himalayas would be advantageous.
