Bonhams is currently looking for a Cataloguer to work in the Books, Manuscripts and Photographs Department, based in their Oxford Saleroom.
This role is central to the success of the Bonhams Oxford Book Department. With a good working knowledge of books, manuscripts and photographs, you will be responsible for identifying, describing and valuing items consigned for sale or to be valued for probate purposes. Your duties will include, but not be limited to, handling customer enquiries via email, phone or in person; selecting and cataloguing items for upcoming sales; producing condition reports; and arranging the photography of items for sale.
With excellent organisation and time management skills, you will liaise with other departments to produce sales catalogues within strict deadlines. You will have strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and will be a flexible team player. Previous experience working in an auction house or for a book dealer would be an advantage.
