With over £12 million of Scottish Art sold since 2011, Bonhams are market leaders, specialists in the Scottish Colourists and the only International auction house holding dedicated sales of Scottish Art.
Scottish art sells best in Scotland. Our auctions in April, September and December are previewed in New Bond Street, London and in Glasgow, to ensure maximum exposure before being offered in Bonhams' Edinburgh salerooms, the finest in the country. Over the past three years, we have also held previews in New York, Toronto, Hong Kong and Paris, confirming our commitment to bringing the best Scottish art to an international stage.
Since 2011, Bonhams have sold £6 million of Scottish Colourist paintings, more than any other auction house. Prices attained for Peploe, Cadell and Fergusson are amongst the highest ever achieved on the open market. We have also sold the three most important international collections of Scottish Colourist Art to be offered in that period.
Bonhams' annual Scottish Sale has long been the premier sale of its type, and has in the past achieved record prices for artists as significant and varied as Leslie Hunter, Stanley Cursiter, Anne Redpath and William Gillies. Other artists currently in particular demand are the Scottish Colourists, Glasgow Boys, Joan Eardley, Alberto Morrocco and Edinburgh School.
