Irish Art

Bonhams is proud to hold a long and exceptional record of selling fine Irish Art through a select group of auctions at our New Bond Street and Knightsbridge salerooms, preceded by Irish/International previews. Both Traditional and Modern tastes are catered for through a wide selection of the very best paintings, drawings, sculpture and prints by Irish artists (18th Century to the present day).

Bonhams Irish Art department is the only one of its British competitors to be overseen by Irish born Specialists, who have many years of experience between them in selling Irish Art for exceptional prices. This understanding of the Irish market coupled with Bonhams global presence put us in a unique position. As such, we are ideally placed to advise the best course of action for your art to achieve and surpass its potential at auction.

A case in point was 'Dooega, Achill Island, Co Mayo' by Paul Henry. Following its discovery on the Antiques Roadshow, Bonhams sold it for £172,000 – almost 5 times the pre-sale guide of £40,000-60,000.

This field has become a truly international market in recent years with buyers and investors now being drawn from all four corners of the world. Bonhams worldwide Irish team pride themselves on exceptional and approachable client service. We travel regularly and would be delighted to hear from you, in confidence and without obligation.
