Islamic and Indian Art

The Islamic and Indian Art department in London holds two sales a year covering a wide range of art and artifacts dating from the 9th to the 19th century. This includes Arabic and Persian manuscripts, pottery, metalwork and glass, ivory jewelry and stonework, Ottoman, Turkish works of art (silver, textiles, arms and armor and Iznik pottery), and later Persian material. Within the sphere of Indian art, we feature in particular miniature paintings of the 16th to 19th centuries as well as Bidri ware and other metalwork, ivory, textiles and jewellery.

In our New York salerooms, Bonhams also offers fine Indian sculpture, works of art and miniature paintings in conjunction with Himalayan and Southeast Asian Art. These sales are held twice a year during Asia Week.
