English Furniture and Works of Art

The Fine English Furniture and Works of Art auctions at Bonhams feature examples of cabinet-work by leading furniture makers from the late 17th century to the late 19th century. Our sales have included furniture by such distinguished makers as Chippendale, Ince and Mayhew, William and John Linnell, Seddons, Gillows and George Bullock as well as many other eminent makers. Rare colonial pieces are also occasionally included in the sales such as Anglo-Indian and Chinese export furniture, while early oak and country furniture is sold through our Chester rooms. Besides furniture, our auctions also encompass works of art together with tea caddies, candlesticks, desk stands, fire grates, buckets and a variety of boxes. Sales in this category are held up to ten times a year globally, with the catalogues available to view on-line in advance of the printed catalogue.
If you are considering buying or selling furniture, a member of the specialist team will be pleased to offer their expert advice by telephone, e-mail or in person.
