American Furniture, Folk Art and Decorative Arts

The American furniture and Decorative Arts Department offers furniture from the 17th thru the 19th centuries covering William and Mary , Queen Anne , Federal, Classical, and Victorian periods. We have a strong Decorative Arts focus in the areas of folk Art, paintings, clocks, weathervanes, needlework, metalware, and ceramics.

Bonhams has had successes and strong record prices for furniture to include a Chippendale Block and shell chest, Newport R.I. selling for $1,436,250. the Dorr Family Queen Anne Japanned High Chest, Boston, selling for $772,500. An oak console table from the William H. Vanderbilt residence, by Herter Bros. Selling for $323,125.

Decorative Arts highlights include an important needlework chimney piece, Boston, 18thc. selling for $611,250. and an important Moravian pottery owl bottle, North Carolina, early 19thc. $49,200.
