Office Information
The valuations team in Chester covers most specialist subjects. Particular strengths include jewellery, pictures, silver, ceramics and furniture. The Chester saleroom is unique within the Bonhams network for the specialist sales of oak furniture, vernacular furniture and sporting memorabilia.

The three Oak Sales, held every four months, offer a unique opportunity to see and purchase some of the finest pieces of British country furniture.

The sporting department is based in Chester and holds five sales per year, with two Golfing Memorabilia sales and three Football & Sporting Memorabilia sales (which include other sports such as cricket, tennis, rugby, and Olympic Games paraphernalia, to name a few examples). For details, please visit www.bonhams.com/sporting.

Amongst the many items recently consigned through this busy saleroom, was a rare 18th Century guilt bronze elephant mantle clock, probably originally made for the Persian market valued in excess of £200,000 it was transferred to Bonhams New Bond Street salerooms where it sold for £250,000 in a specialist clock sale.

Whilst the specialist valuation team are primarily involved in appraising items for auction sale, we also undertake valuations for probate, family division and insurance and have experts who can advise on tax and heritage matters.

For advice about buying and selling through auction or for further information about our valuation and auction services please contact Joanna Thomas or email us at chester@bonhams.com
