Private Collections and Work by Many Legendary Designers Highlight October Fine Jewelry Sale at Bonhams New York

Several highly anticipated pieces will be offered during the nearly 250 lot Fine Jewelry sale to be presented at Bonhams New York this October.
Amongst the most coveted lots is a collection of 10 pieces of gold and diamond jewelry from a Los Olivos, CA collector. Undoubtedly, the most desirable item from the collection is a 5.07 carat diamond solitaire ring. Centered by an F color, VS clarity, rectangular-cut diamond and accented with trapezoid-shaped diamond shoulders, it is estimated at $40/60,000.
Also of particular interest in the collection are a 1930s, art deco bracelet centering a 1.20 carat, marquise-shaped diamond (Est. $7/9,000) and an 18 karat gold and diamond "Santos" wristwatch by Cartier (Est. $3,500/5,500).
Sure to inspire competitive bidding are a number of spectacular diamond rings as well.
Estimated at $30/40,000 is a diamond solitaire ring mounted in 14 karat gold (pictured, left). Centering an old mine-cut diamond, weighing 7.87 carats, within a fluted mount with bead detail, the ring is garnering attention for both its diamonds and gold mount. Another ring featuring a 14 karat gold mount is centered by a 6.50 carat, old European-cut diamond and carries an estimate of $14/16,000.
Also expected to perform strongly is a Tiffany & Co. diamond solitaire ring. Weighing 2.05 carats, the ring is centered by a round, brilliant-cut, F color, VVS2 clarity diamond which is accompanied by a Tiffany & Co. diamond certificate. Further accented with baguette-cut diamond shoulders and signed 'Tiffany & Co.', the ring is estimated at $20/30,000.
Collectors will also have an opportunity to bid on exceptional diamond necklaces.
A necklace designed as twenty-six graduated old European-cut diamond floral clusters, with a total diamond weight of 25 carats, is estimated at $22/24,000. Additionally, an openwork collar necklace (pictured, right) designed as a round brilliant-cut diamond lattice and centering a pear-shaped multi-tiered diamond cluster pendant, carries an estimate of $20/25,000.
Several bracelets are attracting collector notice, as well. In particular, an 18 karat gold and diamond bracelet by Roberto Coin, presented with a matching ring, is of note. The bracelet is of woven design, the interlocking links set with round brilliant-cut diamonds and completed by a pavé-set diamond clasp-the ring is of similar design. Signed 'Roberto Coin' and with an estimated total diamond weight of 14.50 carats, the lot is estimated at $10/15,000.
Another bracelet sure to draw strong bidding is a 1950 diamond bracelet designed as three openwork shaped-rectangular panels, each centering a round brilliant-cut diamond. Accented by baguette and round brilliant-cut diamonds and with an estimated total diamond weight of 12.35 carats the piece is estimated at $15/20,000.
Additionally, an enamel and 18 karat gold bangle bracelet by Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. (pictured, left) will come to block. The hinged bangle is designed as purple enamel panels with gold 'X' surmounts and ribbed spacers. With an approximate gross weight of 91.0 grams and signed 'Schlumberger, Tiffany & Co., France' the bracelet is estimated at $8/10,000.
Also from Tiffany & Co. is an eighteen karat gold necklace, by legendary architect Frank Gehry. The "torque" necklace is comprised of thirty-one various sized square interlocking links with an approximate gross weight of 121.8 grams. Signed 'Tiffany & Co, Gehry'; this unique necklace is estimated at $4/5,000.
A 1966, ruby and diamond brooch from the famed Oscar Heyman & Bros. (pictured, top) has not escaped notice. Designed in the form of a pansy it is centered by a round brilliant-cut diamond and circular-cut ruby cluster and completed with pavé-set diamond and calibré-cut ruby petals. With a maker's mark for 'Oscar Heyman & Bros, no. 71322', an estimated total ruby weight of 2.85 carats and an estimated total diamond weight of 2.65 carats, it is expected to fetch $10/15,000.
From famed jewelry designer Aldo Ciupullo will be two exceptional pieces. Ciupullo's iconic white gold, Cartier 'Love' bracelet, complete with the screwdriver designed to fasten the two pieces of bracelet together, is estimated at $2,500/3,500. Additionally, a pair of signed, ruby and jadeite jade earclips, mounted in 18 karat gold, carry an estimate of $5/7,000.
Certainly not to be overlooked is a large private collection of Theodor Fahrner hardstone and enamel jewelry made in the Art Deco period. Consisting of 38 pieces the group is expected to spark serious bidding.
Viewings are scheduled at Bonhams' San Francisco showrooms from October 2-4 and the Los Angeles showrooms from October 9-11. Viewings will begin at the Madison Avenue galleries on October 17th until the sale date of October 20th. The sale will take place at 1PM EST and will be simulcaste to the San Francisco and Los Angeles galleries as well.
