The Coins, Banknotes and Precious Metals Department specializes in ancient Greek and Roman Coinage from the 6th Century BC up to early 20th century issues and rarities. With an emphasis on 18th early 20th century regular issue and proof copper, silver and gold coinage from the United States, the department will hold 3-4 rare coin and currency auctions per year in Bonhams’ Los Angeles and New York sales rooms.
Whether it be a tetradrachm of 5th century Athens or a 1907 High Relief Double Eagle by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, we are pleased to handle single coins or entire collections ranging in value from $1,000 to over $1,000,000. We look forward to your complimentary inquiry and will provide the most professional and prompt service and return to you as a collector or investor in rare numismatic items. As well, if you have a vetted, qualified collection worth $50,000 or more, we will come to you at your place of business, home or bank vault for your added convenience, confidentiality and security.
