The market for Greek art is exceptionally strong at present. If you want
to take advantage of this market, now is an excellent time to consign. Particularly
sought after are works by artists such as Georgios Jakobides, Nicholaos
Gysis, Theofilos, Théodore Jacques Ralli, Periclès Pantazis, Constantinos
Volanakis, Jean Altamura, Constantinos Parthenos, Constantinos Maleas, Alecos
Fassianos and Yiannis Moralis.
Bonhams two Greek sales held in 2009 were highly successful and established
17 new world records in May and 16 in November for Greek pictures. The auctions made £3.6m and £3.5m, respectively, which gives Bonhams market
dominance in the UK over all other auction houses selling Greek Art.
