Rare Frederic Church Work Fetches Over $1Million at
Bonhams New York American Paintings Sale
Titled Tropical Moonlight, it is amongst the important paintings derived from Church's travels around South America. Given directly from Church to his patron and friend, William Henry Osborn, the painting remained in the family for decades and was placed on loan to the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco prior to being presented at Bonhams.
