Bonhams Antiquities department are pleased to announce their 2009 sales schedule:

Following a series of strong sales, 2008 saw Bonhams’ Antiquities department
established as the market leaders for UK sales of ancient art. With consistently
high sale rates throughout the year, strong results have been achieved across
the board, including:
• The Beth Shan bust, £240,000
• A large Egyptian bronze figure of Osiris, £57,600
• A Roman marble dedicatory throne, £45,600
• An Attic black figure psykter, £40,800
• A large Roman marble sarcophagus fragment £60,000
The market for Classical and Egyptian antiquities is thriving, with artefacts
of interesting and long-established provenance remaining highly sought after.
Buyers from all over the world continue to be attracted by the lure of the ancient
world, with increasing numbers of new buyers considering ancient artefacts for
potential investment as well as for aesthetic pleasure.
