A late 18th century and later quarter chiming bracket clock
John Cowell, Royal Exchange, London The formerly ebonised case partially re-veneered in walnut appears to have been re-built in the early 20th century to house the seven inch brass break arched dial with gilt spandrels, silvered chapter ring, matted centre with recessed signed cartouche, calendar aperture and blued-steel hands to the triple wire fusee movement with profusely engraved backplate, verge escapement and rack strike, chiming the quarters on a nest of eight bells 54cm (21.25in) high.
