Footnote:
Pinedo succeeded his father in 1865 working as a sculptor and as a founder of bronzes. He first exhibited in the Salon of 1870, and specialised in Oriental female subjects of which the present example is typical.
The model is illustrated on page 547, Les Bronzes Du XIXe Siecle, P. Kjellberg, Les Editions de l'Amateur, Paris.
