A Egyptian Revival gilded wooden chair
After the New Kingdom chair of Sitamun The back decorated with a winged sundisc, a rectangular panel below depicting a dual image of the seated princess Sitamun receiving a golden collar from the southern countries, with several columns of hieroglyphic text above armrests, the seat supported by lion paw legs, the front pair surmounted by human busts, joined by a stretcher, 22½in wide, 22½in deep, 33in high (58 x 58 x 84cm).

Provenance: Property of an Education Fund.
Literature: Sitamun was the daughter of Amenophis III; The original 18th Dynasty chair was found in the tomb of Yuya and Thuyu, the parents of Queen Tiyi, wife of Amenophis III. It was presented to them by their granddaughter Sitamun. It now forms part of the collection in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
