  The dagger of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan The Islamic and Indian Art department holds two sales a year, covering a wide range of art and artefacts, dating from the 9th to the 19th Century. This includes Arabic and Persian manuscripts, pottery, metalwork and glass, ivory, jewellery and stonework, Ottoman Turkish works of art (silver, textiles, arms and armour and Iznik pottery), and later Persian material. Within the sphere of Indian art, we feature in particular miniature paintings of the 16th-19th Century, as well as Bidri ware and other metalwork, ivory, textiles and jewellery.

Royal Indian Necklace Dazzles at Bonhams Islamic and Indian Art Sale

The highlight of the sale was an important 19th Century emerald and seed-pearl Necklace from the Lahore Treasury, reputedly worn by Maharani Jindan Kaur wife of Ranjit Singh, the Lion of the Punjab (1780–1839), which sold for twice its estimate at £55,200.
