Bonhams Modern & Contemporary Middle Eastern & South Asian Art
department was created in recognition of the growing demand and increased
interest for works of art from the Middle East and South Asia. Bonhams has
been offering Modern and Contemporary Indian and Pakistani paintings in
London for many years and we have performed consistently well with artists such as Jamini Roy and Francis Newton Souza, along with works by prominent
Pakistani artists such as Chughtai, Sadequain and Jamil Naqsh.
Auctions held in both London and Dubai have continually seen individual
artist records, such as Gulgee
and Sadequain, being broken and putting
Bonhams at the cutting edge of the rapid expansion of this dynamic and
emerging art market. Auctions have included works by well established
artists and those whose international reputations are climbing rapidly, such
as
Farhad Moshiri, Parriz Tanavoli, Ahmed Moustafa, and C.H. Zenderoudi. Pioneers such as Jewad Selim, Fateh Moudarres and Louay Kayyali have also been well represented.
