The sale creates an atmosphere where worn leather
and the pursuit of leisure, pleasure, eccentricity and fun combine to rekindle
the age of curiosity, comfort and nostalgia.
Now firmly established in the London auction calendar as a unique and diverse
event, the sale features an array of traditional library furniture, including
desks, writing tables, bookcases and related furnishings complimented by
selected works of art and the unusual. Scientific instruments, marine and
other models, sit alongside globes, desk accessories and curiosities, enhanced
by a selection of related silver accessories. Smoking and drinking are among
the gentleman's vices, while portraits and pictures adorn the walls, gently
worn and mellow carpets and rugs under foot.
