Fantastic December Frame Sale
Our top lot was Lot 207 – a pair of English 18th Century carved and gilded Carlo Maratta frames that sold for £6,600. Other highlights included Lot 127 – an Italian late 16th Century ebonised and parcel gilt cassetta frame that sold for £5,280 and Lot 148 – an Italian 16th Century carved, polychromed and parcel gilt tabernacle frame that sold for £4,080.
We were delighted with the result of the sale. There was competitive bidding on many of the lots with buyers from all over the world competing on the telephone and in the room. Most of the buyers were trade clients who are looking for the perfect frame to set off an important old master painting or other work of art. We were also pleasantly surprised with the number of first time buyers at the sale..
