In September 2003 Australian auction house, Goodmans, joined the Bonhams group of companies. In January 2005 Bonhams & Goodman acquired a 50% stake in Bruce's Auctions of Adelaide, the oldest auction house in Australia founded by Theodore Bruce in 1878. Bonhams & Goodman is now the largest Australian-owned general fine art auction house.
The reputation of Bonhams & Goodman as the fastest growing Australian auction house continued last year, when the company's gross sales doubled. In 2004 Bonhams & Goodman was successfully placed in the top three results for paintings sold at auction in Australia.
Bonhams & Goodman, together with Bruces, now offer 22 in-house specialists providing international based expertise in more categories than any of its rivals.
