Over 140 lots of highly sought-after contemporary, avant-garde and vintage watches from renowned brands such as Patek Philippe, IWC and Audemars Piguet form the Bonhams Fine Watches and Clocks sale.
"We have always offered a mix of vintage and new timepieces that are much sought-after at our watch auctions. And the sale in November is no exception. We have a colourful collection from a Hong Kong gentleman, which ranges from chic fashion watches to grand complication ones. There is also a selection of Patek Philippe vintage pocket watches with minute and quarter repeaters and an exquisite Tiffany 1950s desk clock with an Angelus movement. With the vintage Angelus movement being used in Officine Panerai watches recently, the prices for timepieces using such a movement has skyrocketed from HK$160,000 to $800,000. This Tiffany clock with the Angelus movement is extremely rare and is highly desirable," comments Carson Chan, Managing Director and Watch Specialist of Bonhams.
"Other highlights include an IWC grand complication watch, the most complicated one manufactured by IWC. Its rarity makes it very collectable. Another unique watch is the Audemars Piguet Jumping Hour Minute Repeater with a rectangular case. Its slimness and classic and understated design make this a true gentleman's watch. The Patek Philippe platinum automatic annual calendar chronograph wristwatch, on the other hand, features the house's first chronograph movement. Its rarity makes it much sought-after in the collector's market. All these timepieces are priced at current maket levels, making them 'must-buys' to collectors. Our watch auction offers the best opportunity for connoisseurs or beginner collectors to build on their collections. You need to look no further than this auction to increase your timely assets."
The total estimate of the Bohams Fine Watch and Clocks Auction is HK$11 million.
