The Antiquities Department benefits from many years of auctioneering experience and is amongst the world leaders in auctions of Antiquities. Our bi-annual auctions offer a variety of objects which date from between 4000 B.C to the 12th Century A.D. Geographically, artefacts could originate anywhere from Egypt, the Near East and Europe and incorporate objects fashioned from a variety of materials including marble, bronze, glass, gold, pottery and stone.

Antiquities Turn In Sprightly Performance With £1.5M Sale At Bonhams As Tarzan Adds Strength
Star of the sale was lot 54, a Roman mosaic panel, circa 2nd-3rd Century AD, depicting a Nereid sitting on the back of a bearded triton with a swimming dolphin nearby. Estimated to sell for £30,000 to £50,000 the mosaic outperformed this figure by reaching £168,000.
