La mallette à poignées en laiton, le couvercle retenu par deux baguettes d'osier s'enlevant pour dévoiler un intérieur contenant une mince tablette en chêne dotée de deux abattants à charnières laiton, soutenue par deux paires de pieds en chêne, un pied portant la plaque en Ivorine du fabricant marquée Patent n° 14907 et d'une hauteur totale de 74 cm, plus un ensemble complet d'accessoires de pique-nique logés dans des compartiments en osier au-dessous et comprenant une bouilloire avec son réchaud, deux grandes bouteilles en verre gainées d'osier, un petite bouteille en verre, deux boîtes à mets à fond émaillé, une grande et une petite, une boîte en fer-blanc, un ensemble de six tasses à thé en céramique avec soucoupes, six assiettes émaillées rectangulaires à bord doré, six gobelets en verre empilés dans des étuis en osier, trois boîtes à condiments recouvertes d'osier, des bocaux à beurre et à conserves, les couverts retenus sur le côté par des courroies en cuir, la mallette fermée mesurant 79 x 49 x 31 cm, avec deux cadenas en laiton et clés, offerte avec une édition de l'ouvrage « An Edwardian Summer – Sydney and beyond through the lens of Arthur Wigram Allen » par Judith Ainge, Alan Davies et Howard Tanner publié en 2010 et orné d'une image d'époque montrant un nécessaire identique utilisé par Allen et un ami (voir page 20).

A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE SIX-PERSON WICKER-CASED PICNIC SET AND TABLE COMBINATION BY G W SCOTT & SONS OF CHARING CROSS, CIRCA 1900,
the wicker case with brass handles, with lid secured by two wicker locking bars, removing to reveal interior incorporating a light oak table top with brass-hinged fold-out leaves raising on two pairs of hinged light oak legs, one leg inset with Ivorine maker's plaque bearing Patent No.14907, and standing 74cm high overall, further revealing full complement of picnic accessories fitted in wicker compartments underneath and comprising kettle with burner, two large wicker-covered glass bottles, a smaller glass bottle, two large and one smaller enamel based food containers, a food tin, set of six ceramic tea-cups with saucers, six rectangular gilt-edged enamel plates, six glass tumblers stacked in wicker cases, three wicker-covered condiments jars, and ceramic butter and preserves jars, with cutlery contained in leather straps in the side, the case measuring 79 x 49 x 31cm in closed position , together with two brass padlocks with keys and offered together with an edition of the book "An Edwardian Summer - Sydney & beyond through the lens of Arthur Wigram Allen" by Judith Ainge, Alan Davies and Howard Tanner, published 2010, featuring a period image of an identical set in use by Allen and an acquaintance (see page 20).
