Folio (298 x 210 mm). 36 leaves. Xylographic title woodcut by Hans Burgkmair, repeated on the verso. Modern quarter calf. Lower right corner of title supplied in facsimile, affecting a quarter of the image, a few side-notes shaved, some staining.

FIRST EDITION. Of American interest is the author's letter to Jakob Locher with a reference to Christopher Columbus and Amerigo Vespucci, dated 1506 (f. 3v): "I do not make mention of the newly discovered islands: But I send for you to see the treatises of Christopher Colom and Albericus [sic] Vespucci (to whom our age is greatly indebted) on the new world discovered." A drama in verse in 14 acts, Stamler's work treats the religions of the Tartars, Turks, Saracens and Jews. Alden & Landis 508/19; Sabin 90127; Church 26; Muther 858.
